Join our dynamic team and make a meaningful impact as a Rail Operations Supervisor at Tessenderlo Kerley.

As a Rail Operations Supervisor at Tessenderlo Kerley, you will be at the forefront of our rail logistics operations, supervising and leading our rail operations across all of Tessenderlo Kerley's business units. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the rail strategies and execution plans for our diverse portfolio of products, including hazardous materials, with an annual freight budget exceeding $40 million.

This role demands a blend of technical expertise and strategic vision to ensure compliance with (US) interstate and international freight regulations, enhance customer service, and drive operational efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement rail logistics strategies in alignment with Tessenderlo Kerley's five-year strategic plans and business unit (BU) goals.
  • Oversee scheduling, dispatching, routing and tracking of all railcar movements to ensure timely and safe delivery of products.
  • Lead negotiations with rail shippers and equipment vendors to secure favorable freight rates and terms.
  • Spearhead the development and refinement of delivery service policies and procedures to boost customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
  • Conduct periodic risk analyses and manage licensing and permits for new and existing rail equipment.
  • Collaborate closely with ICT, customers and vendors to leverage EDI technology for enhanced value creation.
  • Manage a team of three by fostering a culture of integrity, accountability and collaboration.

Profile

What you will need to be successful:

  • A degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience, with at least five years in the industry.
  • Proven leadership skills with a track record of managing teams effectively; previous management experience is highly desirable.
  • Technical and analytical prowess, with a deep understanding of FRA regulations and safety compliance.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in various SAP modules, MS Office and other technology tools.
  • Excellent communication skills with a commitment to teamwork and a positive, problem-solving attitude.
